Makeup Artist NC - Food Lion Renewal Project for Wilmington

Dustin Peck Photography contracted Artistry by Sandy
for the Wilmington Food Lion Renewal Project.
Crystal and I were privileged to be the Makeup Artists for this Project.
We had a wonderful time with the 62 store employee's of which managers role played as customers and store personnel. The managers came from all around the Coastal Carolina's to Sneads Ferry, NC.

What fun! The assignment ended up being a great experience for everyone and even though it was a 10 hour work day, it actually went fast because we had such a 'delightful group' to work with.
The Photo Shoot at Sneads Ferry was at the newly finished Food Lion; a fantastic store. We were very impressed!

It made me anxious for the Wilmington Food Lions to be completed.
Crystal and I thank Dustin Peck Photography, and his wonderful 'Behind the Scenes' crew.
We thank Food Lion and all the terrific managers we worked with who shared our day.....

Red Hot Trends For 2008

Redheads, Red dresses and Red lipstick! Dare you try them?

Red is this years hottest color and absolutely beautiful when you know how to wear it. Of course, Makeup needs to compliment all that Red.....so here's 5 tips to help you.
(Model has the total look!)

I did this look for a 'Fashion Forward 2008' Photography Shoot with Stephanie Moore Photography. www.stephaniemooreonline.com/
Tip 1: The Secret lies in the rest of your face. The paler the skin, the bigger the pop. Go light on the eyes with shadows otherwise you’ll risk looking like a clown.
Black/ Brown Eyeliner smudged closely to the lash line, then 3 coats of mascara to lashes. Make sure to apply mascara lavishly to bottom lashes to open up the eyes.

Tip 2: Line lips with a reddish colored lip liner or dark natural, this assures lipstick won't bleed, then fill in lips with lip liner. (so it lasts throughout the evening or event)

Tip 3: Pick the right color. If your complexion is pink, you'll look better in plum shades, while girls with yellow tones are flattered by warmer reds that have a brown base. Our model is wearing a rust shade 'blend' (see tip 4) topped with clear gloss and lip plumper.

Tip 4: Blend more than one shade of lipstick to create the perfect color. If you bought a red lipstick that's too bright or dark experiment with other lipstick shades you have on hand to create the perfect shade of red.

Tip 5: Blush stays soft and matte...most Makeup looks for 2008 include a lightly powdered face without shimmery highlights.

Well, your all set! Now, slip into a pretty RED dress, the right shoes and accessories; trust me heads will turn .....because that's what Redhead's do!

Have Beautiful Healthy Skin The Natural Way

Anti-aging makeup ‘tricks ‘ help us look years younger and with Olive Oil’s Skin Care Secrets ….. ageless!
As a seasoned Makeup Artist I focus special attention on the eye and lip area since these age faster than other areas of the face. Larger lips and an open eye look give you a youthful appearance and are achieved with artistry tricks.
Makeup techniques take years off your appearance and these tips can be easily taught so you can duplicate the look whenever you desire.
A primary step for good skin care each week is exfoliation, this will help your skin look younger immediately and absolutely radiant after makeup application.
Like the famous Italian actress Sophia Loren, I use Olive Oil for skin care. Sophia Loren is over 70 and is considered one of the most beautiful woman in the world without Plastic surgery. Olive Oil is an ancient Roman beauty secret and one I’ve suggested to my clients for many years. Try a dab of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil ( first cold pressed ) several times a week on your face and use it’s as a total body moisturizer.
Olive Oil, or ‘Liquid Gold’ has been used throughout the Mediterranean for thousands of years as both a health and beauty aid. This precious oil has been treasured as a beauty aid because it protects, tones and moisturizes the skin. Olive oil is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients that are easily absorbed and water soluble so it won’t clog pores. Premium Olive Oil actually ‘feeds’ your skin to make it firmer, truly ‘anti-aging.’
Scientifically it’s proven Olive Oil is a natural anti-inflammatory agent for total body health. As we age the inflammatory response is higher making Olive Oil benefits of greater value…. ‘Good health to you!’
If you or a loved one suffer from an Auto-Immune Disease like ‘Rheumatoid Arthritis,’ read the benefits of Olive Oil and the Mediterranean diet @ http://www.rheumatoidarthritissupport.blogspot.com/
Directions as a moisturizer for the face: Warm a tiny amount in your hands, pat in gently and not too close to eyes,( makes them cloudy) allow to absorb for 10-20 min., then pat off excess with a soft cloth and proceed with your usual beauty routine.
It’s natural, healthy and gives you a youthful glow! As the saying goes, …. ”You will love the skin your in!”

Olive Oil for Beauty and Longevity

We want to look great as we age and the fact is we're going to have some wrinkles if we enjoy life.... we laugh, we cry, we frown .... that's just the way life is.
But there's a way to keep our skin younger longer and we benefit health wise too.
The exceptional life-expectancy of people from the Mediterranean area where olive oil is used for everything from cooking to moisturizer has captured the attention of the world's scientific community.
Jeanne Calment, who holds the record for the longest confirmed lifespan, reportedly attributed her longevity and relatively youthful appearance to olive oil, which she said she poured on all her food and rubbed into her skin.
Olive oil, in all its greenish, golden, antioxidant-rich glory, 'Liquid Gold' as it's called could very well be the proverbial Fountain of Youth. Olive Oil keeps skin elastic and youthful as well as your hair shiny and strong.
Make sure you use quality Olive Oils, 'Extra Virgin Olive Oil' and always, 'First Cold Press' for nutritional values. Preferably buy name brands and some excellant ones come from Italy and Spain; at this time only certain Olive Oils are pure organic oil so check labels carefully and buy ones you can trust.
MOISTURIZER FOR FACE:
For face, pour a small amount into your hands and warm then dab onto face, not too close to eyes since it will cloud them. Allow to absorb 10 - 20 minutes.... then buff off excess with a soft cotton cloth.... apply your foundation or just go as you are in all your natural beauty.
MOISTURIZER FOR BODY:
After showering or bathing rub a small amount of olive oil over the entire body....it will absorb... lightly buff off excess after 10 minutes. (At night rub into feet and wear white cotton socks to bed.....over night your feet will be soft and pretty.

Makeup Tips for Flirty Glamour - Spring and Summer 2008

Glam Up for Spring and Summer!
This spring and summer 2008, makeup is stronger than ever. After years of telling women to choose between strong eyes and strong lips, both can be strong. This actually helps balance out the trends of the black and white power suits, floaty nightgown dresses or white eyelet sheaths. How wonderful to actually have options, we can ’flirt with glamour’ this season….which is exacty what us girls love to do.

Brows are strong this year….so don’t over tweeze…. just keep them groomed and arched, add highlighter to the brow bone….. it adds glam to the entire eye area. For us mature girls it gives us an instant eye ‘lift’ …. a makeup trick for younger looking eyes.

While the hottest runway looks involve wearing a fiery orange red lip most of us aren’t even close to looking like Audrey Hepburn or Ava Gardner; so it’s best to go with a strong matte lipstick peach or pink. ( lipstick, not lip gloss). The key to great looking lips is a a lipstick that’s satiny, a silky look that’s not too dewy and not too matte — add a light foundation, triple coat those lashes with black mascara or false ‘demi’ lashes …and darling your ‘Good To Go!”

Makeup Trends 2008 - Spring and Summer

Makeup Artist Shannon looks beautiful with Pink lips and blush, eyes expertly lined in black liquid liner very close to the lash line.... a pretty 'day' look. Trend for Spring and Summer 2008 ... lots of 'Color'...so experiment... especially with the most popular color all ...PINK!

Donna loves purple! Great, since it's another 'trendy' color this year. At Donna's session I applied eyeshadow in 'Gold and Purple'...blending the two. Keep in mind 'GOLD' is one of the hottest colors for Spring and Summer for day and evening. For fun, blend several colors of shadows together and then highlight the brow bone. Go for False Eyelashes too, it's big in 2008. Donna's Makeover included application of black 'demi lashes'... a thin line of black liquid liner close to the lash line and 2 coats of mascara to lower lashes to open up her eyes to make them pop.

The Photo of Donna above was professionally retouched by Jim Downing @ http://www.jimdowningphotography.com/

Danielle wears the 'New Look' beautifully with heavily lashed eyes and pretty Pink lips and blush. Light foundation evens out her skin tone....and she's good to go....a lovely young lady and pefect 'model .......

Julie's Wedding Day Makeup and Hair Design - Bald Head Island NC

Heading out at the Ferry Landing in Southport

Photos of Julie's Wedding Day 'preparation'..... from "Behind The Scenes"

Holly, Julie's sister and one of her bridesmaids......these young ladies were all beautiful.

Amy, the other bridesmaid and another of Julie's sisters, isn't she lovely! With Makeup and Hair complete, note the single strand of pearls; a touch that makes these bridesmaids look especially elegant in their 'little black dresses.'
At this point everyone is waiting to see the final touches on Julie's Makeup and Hair...

Debra and Crystal assisted me prime foundation .... and Debra with Hair Design.... great work girls! We had so much fun, this is why WE LOVE Weddings!
The beautiful Bride, Julie! Truly a gracious bride and I simply loved working with her and her family.
This was a Destination Wedding and we had only a couple months to fine tune details without a 'trial run' .... I feel we did great..... Julie, what do you think?
For Julie's "Elegantly Romantic" theme we chose Makeup and Hair Designs that were both Classic and Glamorous with a 'Pop' of boldness for an 'Evening Wedding' on New Years Eve!
Julie has beautiful large brown eyes so I played them up with a Peach base, the deep shade for eye contour is Designer by Lancome. The eyebrow highlighter is Dior's 'Ready-To-Beige.
Julie's lashes....OH MY.....they were the longest lashes I've ever seen! They were so long and lush I applied Chanel mascara only twice. Jay must get 'lost' in those eyes! BEAUTIFUL!

Holly's finished "look" above...... all of these girls
could win any 'Beauty' contest!
Julie's Wedding on Bald Head Island NC was New Years Eve 2007. What a wonderful way to begin a new year....'new beginnings!'
I must admit these young ladies were 3 of the most beautiful clients I've ever had!
Special thanks to my assistants Debra and Crystal! They helped make everything 'happen'....
Thank you Julie, for inviting me to be personal Makeup Artist for your Special Day...
We all want to wish you and Jay all the happiness in the world!

Always, Sandy, Debra and Crystal

Special thanks also to Allen for chauffeuring us back and forth in his Golf Cart!

When the Professional Photography is forwarded by the Photographer I will be sure to Post some of her work to this Website......I am anxious to SEE what I missed!
